Entrepreneurship can be a lonely and challenging journey, and this is caused by factors such as low sales, profit and loss margins, negative customer review, delivery glitches, insufficient capital, and other business hiccups that may pose a threat to your business success.

During these fierce conditions, entrepreneurs need the motivation to forge ahead amidst the challenges and last-minute surprises they encounter daily. And one of the ways to become motivated is by watching movies of other entrepreneurs whose stories might resonate with your business journey.

In this article, I have listed five business movies for entrepreneurs to watch for a healthy dose of inspiration to keep their business game going.  These movies can stimulate your mind, endorse that business idea lingering in your mind, and give you the needed push to start or continue that business.

They are:

The Social Network

This 2010 movie tells the story of humble beginnings using Mark Zuckerberg as a case study. Facebook today boasts of over 2.7 billion active users, but the story of how this came to be, started from a Harvard dorm room. Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, the movie details the Genesis of Facebook. Further, it reinforces the saying that you should not despise the days of humble beginnings. One of the essential lessons to learn from this inspiring movie is that you should learn to protect your business ideas from business poachers. You would have to watch the film to understand this fully.

The Wolf of Wall Street

This brilliant movie was based on the true story of an entrepreneur named Jordan Belfort, which was played by Leonard DiCaprio. It highlights his rise and fall in his entrepreneurship journey. This movie is a reminder that greed will get you nowhere as a business owner, and when you engage in the illegal business of duping people, one day, the hands of the law will find you. It’s better to run and legit business that will take time to succeed than resort to fraud and be publicly exposed. Be spurred by your desire to succeed to do a business that you will be proud of in the future.

Here is my best quote from the movie:

“There is no nobility in poverty. I have been a rich man, and I have been a poor man, and I choose rich every time. At least as a rich man, when I have to face my problems, I show up in the back of a limo, wearing a $2000 suit and a $40,000 gold wristwatch. If anyone here thinks I am superficial or materialistic, go and get a job at McDonald’s because that’s where you belong!”

The Pursuit of Happyness

Watching this inspiring movie as an entrepreneur will make you believe more in yourself and what you can achieve no matter the circumstances surrounding your business right now. When you refuse to give up, things can change for the better anytime. This 2006 movie is the true story of Chris Gardener (played by Will Smith) and his struggles in life before he made it as a salesman. He was homeless and worked as an unpaid stockbroker for six months while caring for his son as well. This movie does justice to the quote: Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

The Billionaire

When entrepreneurs experience low sales in business, there is a feeling of despair that overwhelms them and makes them doubt the success of their business. This movie will help you get past that phase and inspire you to intensify your efforts to grow your business. Based on real events, this 2011 movie is a testament to the fact that if you don’t stop believing in yourself, you will make headway in your business. Giving up seems like an easy choice when things go south, but it should be an option for you.

Pirates of The Silicon Valley

This 1999 movie details the stories of two business giants that we know today: Bill Gates – the founder of Microsoft and the late Steve Jobs who co-founded Apple. Despite the rivalry between Apple computers and Microsoft in the early stages, both men went on to define their space in the technological world.

When you watch this movie, you will be taken on an inspiring journey of how two young computer prodigies translated their brilliant ideas into the reality we all enjoy today.

The vital and timely lessons in these inspiring movies will motivate you as an entrepreneur to up your game with renewed enthusiasm and crush your business challenges while at it.

If you also have entrepreneur friends, do well to recommend these inspiring movies to them.

Cheers to your success!
